In the late 1800's Mr Lartis family was one of the biggest land owners in the Oroklini - Livadia area. They used the land for agricultural purposes, cultivation of mainly cotton, wheat and olives. In an era when the major means of transport were the traditional donkeys and bicycles, Fanos Lartis grandfather was one of the most respected figures in the area. At high-season his family would employ 100 - 150 people to work in his fields. As time passed and the importance of agriculture diminished so did the land of the family, dispersing mainly through dowry to younger generations. Listening to these stories as a child and later as a young man, Fanos Lartis was inspired to give the family name back its lost prestige. Three generations later, he started off with his own piece of land and then slowly begun buying land back, firstly from family and then from third parties, so that he could develop houses with his family name.
